The Fiat brand will kick off its return to the U.S. with an Abarth-branded special-edition 500 in 2011, and it’s expected to be the only actual Fiat-branded model on sale here. But what a model it is–espcially the hot Abarth version. So there’s room here for some Abarth fans, and what fan doesn’t love a good BRM watch…err, excuse me, chronograph.
And a chronograph this is: priced to start from about $7,400, the Abarth BRM V12-T-44 is a serious piece of horological machinery. Complete with a 44 millimeter diameter black titanium case, black crown engraved with the Abarth Scorpion, black display features with white numbering, and start/stop and “back to zero” buttons, the watch offers an impressive image.
It also offers some motorsports-inspired elements, including the Nomex strap with red stitching like that found in many Abarth cars. A spare strap in black rubber comes with each watch. Only 49 of the watches will be made, sold exclusively through BRM, the watchmaker.
The core of the BRM V12-T-44 is an ETA Valjoux 7753 automatic swiss movement, ensuring precise and consistent timekeeping. Each watch is numbered with a unique serial on the back.
